About Me
My Way Of Health & Life

My name is Debbie Cutts, I moved up here to Macclesfield in July 2011. Initially I was working in a local children’s day nursery on the bank, hoping for it to become a full time job. Unfortunately this didn’t happen, so I accepted a job in a nursing home in Mobberley. In addition to working full time and working many long hours, I was also studying the VTCT Level 3 Swedish Massage course at Macclesfield College. I then went on to South Cheshire College to study VTCT Level 3 and Level 4 Sports Massage. I also completed some other courses at college and various organisations, as I wanted to be able to offer a wider range of treatments.
Since leaving school and throughout my adult life I have been involved in many lines of work. However, although I enjoyed most of them, I never felt truly fulfilled in my career. I have worked in dog kennels and a cattery, in a restaurant kitchen, as a nursery nurse, as a carer in a nursing home and as an office manager in administration, but my true passion lies in the fitness and health industry.
I have always been active and I love to go for long runs and work out at the gym, where I take part in a wide range of activities and classes. I have also recently started getting more into strength and conditioning training.
Unfortunately, in my early 20s I sustained an injury from running. This happened because I didn’t listen to my body; I hadn’t strengthened my muscles so that they could cope with the repetitive impact from striking the ground when running long distances. I had a race coming up and I was in absolute agony with my right leg: I had an extremely bad case of shin splints as I couldn’t put weight on my leg without being in acute pain. I needed some medical advice, so I went to see a physiotherapist who confirmed the diagnosis and gave me some deep tissue massages, acupuncture and strengthening exercises. I was able to recover in time for my race, and this is what sparked my interest in sports massage.
I love to participate in races and challenges. I have completed many Race for Life events, the Wilmslow 10 km race, the full Tough Mudder course twice and virtual Race At Your Pace where I ran 50 miles in a calendar month. I’ve participated in many weekly park runs. I will complete my first Local fitness race in Macclesfield called The Deadly Dozen on 22nd June 2024. I have many plans to participate in more races in the future, with my long-term goal being to run a marathon.
My Training
When I was still working full time at the nursing home, I decided to go back to college in Macclesfield. Studying alongside shift work and working long unsociable hours was challenging, however I believe that if you truly want to do something you will always find a way to do it.
I knew I wanted to practice Sports Massage, so I went back to college to sign up for a basic course called Swedish Massage. At the time you needed this to be able to get on to the other courses. I studied VTCT Level 3 in Swedish Massage and then I completed a hot stone therapy course.
After completing these two courses and before enrolling on my VTCT Level 3 Sports Massage course, I learned about a relatively new type of massage in the UK called Warm Bamboo Massage. I decided to have a look around and found a training school called the Natural Therapy Studio that offered this, which wasn’t too far from Macclesfield. It was here that I went on to gain my diplomas in Warm Bamboo Massage, Indian Head Massage and a manicure qualification.
I then attended South Cheshire College where I studied VTCT Level 3 and following this, VTCT Level 4 in Sports Massage. I also completed my VTCT Level 3 in Applying Hot and Cold Therapy in Sport and Active Leisure alongside my level 4.
My most recent qualifications are a Diploma in Pregnancy massage therapy. and Manual Lymphatic Drainage massage (MLD) I gained these qualifications in Manchester and Warrington at Gateway workshops. I had many requests for preganancy massage and soon came to realise Macclesfield didn’t have many pregnancy massage therapists readily available. So now Macclesfield and surrounding areas has a new pregnancy massage therapist! I trained in MLD massage to further my skills and to also aid my next qualification whic will be in Oncology massage.
I am now fully qualified to a high standard in massage therapy and I am always looking at completing more courses in the future to keep me up to date and to provide a better service. If you ever have a treatment in mind that I don’t offer, then please do say – if I get enough interest in it I will certainly look into training for it. It’s great to be able to keep studying as you never stop learning in life.
I am a fully qualified and insured therapist, and a member of the STA (Sports Therapy Association) so you can rest assured that you are in good hands. I offer a high standard of treatment and follow the Code of Practice and Ethics which lays down the standards of hygiene and professionalism.
